Cadillac Life Phone, Technology of 2019, Sci-fi Looks and More

When I came across this concept, it stunned me so much that I had to look deep into it, in order to realize what the Cadillac phone is all about. Robert John Borrmann created the concept phone of 2019, during a college project, that allowed him to envision gadgets that would be used 10 years from now.

Cadillac Life Phone uses its curved shell as a screen and it can project a red/pink liquid flowing slowly across it. The liquid is behind a thick and clear layer of silicone and it’ll look like mercury in motion. When opened, the handset features a curved flexible touchscreen, but this is based on ferrofluid, that becomes rigid if an electrical current passes through it, in order to make the screen straight and open the phone.

The concept phone also includes a couple of projectors that turn the device into a laptop, if closed, by projecting a screen and keyboard. As far as the software is concerned, the handset uses a special Cadillac OS and apps that may remind you of those on the iPhone, but in this case they’re free.

Robert John Borrmann also mentioned that Cadillac Life Phone also serves as an universal remote for home appliances and even as a credit card, basically an universal digital key to everything, even your car’s engine. You should also know that the device uses a solar panel hidden in its shell, powering the handset.

The outer shell is a flexible battery that’s nearly invisible for aesthetic purposes. If the Cadillac Phone makes it into production, it’ll come with an equally fascinating wireless headset and use USB 5.0 for charging (other than solar energy).

Moving on to the specs provided by the phone’s designer, we learn that this phone weighs 120 grams and measures 115mm in length, 40mm in width (closed) and 100mm (opened), while the thickness is 27mm.Cadillac Life Phone incorporates an 80GB SSD, 4GB of RAM, supports all known (and more) video formats and uses holographic projectors.

Its battery life is estimated at 32 hours, depending on the solar panel recharging rate. Words are futile to describe this beautiful piece of machinery, that has gone far beyond our wildest dreams and manages to show the world that even during economic depression, good ideas can shine and announce a bright future.
